Qualifications
Dr Lydia Bennett is a former University Professor with more than 20 years experience teaching and providing psychological therapies.
Lydia is a fully accredited Organisational and Health Psychologist with the Australian Psychological Society. She provides individual, couple, corporate and group psychological treatments that have the ability to make a difference. Her techniques are effective and are grounded on compassion and support.
Lydia’s corporate techniques have been successful for companies ranging from Bankers Trust (Australia) to Butler University (USA).
Dr Bennett is a registered psychologist. Health fund and Medicare rebates are available.
Lydia uses the term patient rather than client as her work is governed by the International Patients’ Bill of Rights. This Bill protects patients and gives them a voice regarding their ethical rights, the direction of their treatment and in decisions made about the nature of their therapy.
Lydia actively encourages patients to be vocal about their needs and goals during sessions and to give feedback about the effectiveness of her techniques.
Experience And History
Dr Bennett, previously Professor Lydia Bennett at The University of Sydney, was a Professor in the field of Urban Health – a field traditionally related to sexual health and drug and alcohol issues. Lydia worked at The University of Sydney for over 15 years and lectured in areas such as developmental psychology, health psychology, sexual health, stress and coping, organisational health and research and statistics.
Research conducted by Lydia includes topics such as dealing with grief and loss, HIV/AIDS, business related burnout, psychometric personality testing, and relationships and gender issues. In each of these areas Lydia has published either books or research articles in refereed journals.

Dr Bennett has more than 20 years experience as a counsellor. She is a registered psychologist (NSW), a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the College of Organisational Psychologists and a Founding Member of the APS College of Health Psychologists. Lydia is registered with all the major (and many smaller) private health funds and is also a Medicare Provider.
Therapy Techniques
Lydia’s therapy style is eclectic as it draws from many sources. While her main area of expertise is cognitive behavioural therapy, Lydia also uses projective techniques, humanistic approaches, drawing therapy, family therapy, dream analysis, hypnosis and journal writing. Lydia respects all belief systems and religions that do not harm others. She provides compassion and support during challenging times.
Corporate And Business Expertise
Lydia provides time management seminars to staff in many businesses. Previous clients include Bankers Trust (more than a dozen seminars given over five years), Butler University, and The University of Sydney’s Continuing Education Department.
